Wispr (WSP)

Hard news is difficult to bring and though it feels bad having to bring this news we feel it's important that we do in order to avoid any confusion. For almost 2 years we've been hard at work trying to build a framework on the Wispr blockchain to develop a secure and private messaging protocol. During our hard work we've had several setbacks that took a lot of time and effort from our side with little to no upside to them. It seemed that every time that we were close to releasing a base to build on further we would have to scrap the code again or start over (at least partially) due to unexpected complications. We had started our journey after the swap after which we began building on the Blackcoin code base. After some time, and a new developer later, we decided to start building upon the PIVX code base. As it didn’t suit our needs completely, we had to start over for several items from scratch. This wasn't negative from our point of view as we were certain that the PIVX code base would make our efforts worth it in the end. We pushed forward and came closer and closer to a release candidate earlier this year. With only a few weeks of development left we were shocked to hear the news that the zerocoin protocol (used by PIVX) was proven to be vulnerable. For us this meant we could not move forward with the latest wallet as it was unclear when a new privacy protocol would be available let alone whether this would be compatible with our past developments. Due to the fact that we are a small team we had focused all our efforts on first developing a stable version of our wallet on which we would then start building our messenger. As you can imagine we were never able to finish our release candidate and thus never started our work on the messenger. Many different options were discussed in the team including, but not limited to, creating a crypto layer on top of the Telegram API and even merging with a different project. These were all abandoned due to a plurality of reasons that we didn't see as viable with the little manpower and cash on hand we had (we never did an ICO). The cash that we did have was mostly spent on getting us listed on Cryptopia which turned out to be a poor investment to say the least. Conclusion As of today we want to let the Wispr community know that we've ran out of funds that would allow us to continue development of this project. While we are writing this message we're paying the last bills related to our repositories, hosting and other services we used over the last +/- 2 years. Though our intentions were honest we have no other option than to discontinue the project from here. We are all sad that we were not able to produce the product that we had intended to create but we feel that we let the community know (instead of hiding and keeping quiet). All accounts related to Wispr will remain online for the time being in order to avoid any scammers to take over / renew these accounts. Anyone is welcome to create copies of the code on our Github and is free to do with it as you please. We want to thank all of our community for their support in the last years. Sorry that we couldn't accomplish our mission. The team has decided that we all will not sell a single WSP from our personal accounts though this likely won't matter judging from the current market.

Wispr (WSP) Wallets

You can store coins on exchanges after purchase but we recommend using a dedicated wallet for security and long term storage. Hardware wallets offer the most security but cost money. They are the best choice for those storing a lot of value or planning to hold long term.
